I live in a 30s house. It is end of terrace (they are built in blocks of 4). It used to have a roof which sloped 3 ways and I thought we could not have a loft extension. About 2 years ago I met Jordan when he was working across the road and he was the first person to explain to me that we could have what is called a hip to gable loft extension. I also thought this is the man I would like to do it.
It took me some time to digest the information and investigate possibilities; in the end I did get Jordan and he did a great job.
He has been building loft extensions since he left school; he really knows what he is doing. Neighbours commented on how quickly the job was done. The bulk of the work was done in 4 weeks.
He is also a perfectionist, which is rare in a builder, and everything he does he does well. What is more he is straightforward and honest. You know where you are with him. I had no problem leaving him the key of the house.
I also liked and trusted the people who work for him. He will get subcontractors back if they have not done things exactly right.
I found him very reasonable and helpful with my particular concerns. For example, I wanted to include a kitchenette. That has worked out perfectly. I also wanted to make the most of a good south facing view and he put in a really big Juliet balcony.
Building work is messy. Wives hate it. Jordan is sensitive to that; he is clean, tidy and organised, expert at avoiding unnecessary inconvenience.

This is the first major building work we have ever had done and weren’t really sure what to expect (or where to start). We thought there may be a lot of disruption and a lot of headaches from the outset. How wrong were we?
When we first approached Garnet Construction for a quote we had already had several visits from various companies / builders. What made Garnet different were they were the only ones who took the time to listen to exactly what we wanted before submitting their quote so when we got it through, it wasn’t a ball park figure, it was a detailed specification so we all knew where we stood from start. From arranging the plans, helping with the party wall to advising on plug sockets – everything was covered.
Needless to say, Garnet Construction were instructed to convert our loft into 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
The whole job was finished in just over 3 weeks. Access to the loft via the house was limited to the last week once the stairs were in so apart from the noise and scaffolding, there was no disruption to our day to day living. This was the part that suprised us the most.
The builders were at our house on time every morning and didn’t leave until they had done what they had set or to do each day. The scaffolders, roofers, plumbers and electricians were all friendly, professional and turned up when they said they would. We opted to do some decorations ourselves and Garnet Construction would try their best to plan around this which made things a lot easier for us.
We would thoroughly recommend this company for any building works and hope they will soon be able to build our extension in the near future.

We have been very lucky to have picked Garnet Construction and Jordan to carry out a tricky extensive and beautifully planned loft conversion in our traditional Victorian detached house. He has had to liaise with our architect and building inspector and help to iron out tricky solutions. Jordan was always experienced and professional abiding by high standards in the detailed work. The bespoke replicate loft stairs in keeping with existing Victorian style, loft windows (one of which had self adhesive lead to replicate) and bespoke doors are beautiful to behold.
His own workmanship and those of his subcontractors were courteous and professional. In this pandemic of lockdown rules we over 75 pensioners have felt very safe and trusted that all contract works and additional bespoke works were always carried out to the highest standards. We have moved houses several times and engaged builders of many standards. Jordan is definitely amongst the top rank of builders we would recommend highly. We are writing this in connection with our recent loft conversion, which was undertaken by Garnet Construction.
Firstly we would like to begin by saying we were impressed by Jordan’s professionalism, attention to detail, and conscientiousness something which we believe will make him stand out now and in the future. We were informed of all works to be carried out, from the beginning of the build through to the end and updated on what the next step would be and what to expect. The collaboration of professionals used, the plumbers, electricians and roofers were all coordinated with via Jordan and arrived as planned, carrying out all works to a very high standard.
A point we were very much aware of and important to specify is; the punctuality and attendance of Jordan and his Team arriving every day at 8:00 to ensure the quoted 4 week project progressed as planned, and it certainly did which we were very thankful for.
We would most definitely use Garnet Construction again and would have no hesitation in recommending them as, reliable, conscientious and skilful builders which are not easy to find.
We employed Garnet construction to convert our loft to two bedrooms (with a dormer). Jordan and his boys were simply great people to have around the house, with good interpersonal relationship and great attitude.
They kept to the agreed costs and timescale for the work. And when there were small hiccups (as one would expect with any project of this magnitude), their responses in resolving such problems were very impressive.
Jordan communicated well and was great at answering all our questions and offering appropriate advice. And in the course of this work, we also asked him to replace our roof and roofline, and both completed beautifully. Overall, we’re very pleased with Jordan’s work. He is highly recommended.
