What type of Extension should I have?
- Single Storey Side Extension
- Two Storey Side Extension
- Single Storey Rear Extension
- Conservatory / Summer Room
- Wrap Around Rear Extension
- Outbuilding / Summer House
- Kitchen Extension
Single Storey Side Extension
One of the most common extensions to a semi-detached or end of terrace property is the single storey side extension. In many cases this extension will be to either add a garage to a home for added storage or replace a garage with a habitable room to the property, increasing the general living area.

Two Storey Side Extension
The two-storey side extension is a very typical extension on 1920's and 1930's semi-detached houses in the surrounding counties of London, often coupled with a velux loft conversion. These extensions can almost double the habitable living space of your home, either incorporating a garage, or replacing the garage with an additional reception room.

Single Storey Rear Extension
The single storey rear extension is probably one of the most common extensions across all property types. A single storey rear elevation often used to maximise a kitchen space, or provide additional WC and living spaces to the downstairs of a property. This type of extension can be seen on properties of all periods and styles.

Conservatory / Summer Room
If you are after that added quality of life and want to add space and light to your home, maybe make use of the space you have available to the rear or side of your property while still feeling the benefits of your garden all year round, then a conservatory or sun room could be the right solution for you. They benefit from not requiring planning permission in most cases, and can be erected quickly and easily, with amazing levels of insulation from triple glazed glass.

Wrap Around Rear Extension
The wrap around rear extension is an adaption to the singe storey rear extension, where the property may already have a part of the property that protrudes out to the rear from the main house. In some cases simply filling the space and "squaring off" the end of the property is enough, but where possible many clients choose to extend their property further back to the maximum building line, creating this wrap around effect. These extensions are typical on Edwardian and Victorian period properties and can turn what is typically a galley style kitchen in to a bright and open kitchen / breakfast room for all the family to enjoy.

Outbuilding / Summer House
More and more we are seeing people working from home, or running their own businesses from home, so the addition of an outbuilding or summer house has been increasing in popularity every year. You only need to spend a few minutes watch George Clarks amazing spaces on Channel 4 to know that these additions can add both value to your home, as well as you life.
