Stay put, build up
You may have seen your home in a whole new light, over the past few years; appreciating it a little more and wanting to make the most of it.
You may also have found that it’s not quite keeping up with your needs – but it can, quite easily, with a loft conversion.
There are three main reasons why people choose to convert their loft/attic space:
1. Change in family circumstances
2. Working from home
3. More living space is needed as the current set up has been outgrown
As you may notice, these are also three big reasons why people move – but if you’re happy with where you live, it’s proximity to work, the station, your friends or your child’s school, then any one of these is a big reason not to move, but improve. If that’s not enough, a loft conversion is often quicker and cheaper than relocating.
Creating more rooms in your home can make a huge difference to its functionality and your comfort. It could mean an extra bedroom, office or workroom, and it doesn’t have to mean that you compromise on your home’s current comfort and architecture.
Going up, not out
A big pro of a loft conversion is, unlike an extension, it’s a way to add space to your home without reducing the size of your garden area or changing the external appearance of your home.
Loft conversions can pay for themselves
Of course, changing your loft space doesn’t mean that you have to use it yourself – you could rent it out and create an additional income stream. Or you could look at your new office space as the place where you will be more productive and make your time more cost-effective.
…and they’ll add value
While we can’t guarantee anything about how the housing market is going to go, loft conversions will no doubt increase your property’s value.
Things to consider…
Not every home can accommodate a loft conversion which will create an additional working room. If your roof is so low that people will not be able to stand, then your loft space will be better used for storage.
